Core Building Philosophy
Windrose's building system is extremely flexible — you can build almost anywhere, both on land and at sea. The key early-game strategy is not to invest heavily in a single permanent base.
Early Game: Temporary Outposts
- Follow the resources — build a temporary camp wherever you find Copper, Clay, or Iron
- Minimum camp: Workbench + Cooking Fire + Tent + Chest
- Move when the local resources are depleted
Mid Game: Permanent Base Criteria
- Central location with access to multiple biomes
- Near water for ship docking and Clay access
- Flat terrain for efficient layout
- Close to at least one Copper Deposit Mine
Essential Buildings (Build Order)
| Building | Materials | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Bonfire | 5 Wood | Light + basic cooking |
| Workbench | 5 Wood | Crafting station |
| Cooking Fire | 3 Wood + 3 Stone | Advanced cooking |
| Tent | 4 Wood + 10 Plant Fiber | Sleep/Rested buff |
| Armor Workshop | Requires Roof | Armor crafting |
| Charcoal Kiln | 25 Wood + 20 Clay | Wood → Charcoal |
| Smelting Furnace | 15 Clay + 30 Stone | Ore → Ingots |
| Weaponsmith Workshop | 10 Wood + 5 Copper Ingot (needs Roof) | Weapon crafting |
Camp Upgrades & Rested Buff
Improve your campsite by building items from the Decoration category:
- Each unique decoration type extends the Rested buff duration
- Rested buff provides passive bonuses to crafting speed and stamina regen
- Experiment with different decoration sub-types for maximum buff duration
Ship-Based Building
Your ship can function as a mobile base. Place essential crafting stations on deck:
- Workbench + Cooking Fire for on-the-go crafting
- Storage chests for expedition loot
- Bed for Rested buff during long voyages
