What is Windrose?

Windrose (also known as Windrose: Pirate Survival RPG) is a pirate-themed survival adventure developed by Kraken Express and co-published with Pocketpair Publishing. Released into Early Access on April 14, 2026, the game blends classic survival crafting with soulslite combat — a lighter take on Soulslike mechanics that rewards timing, positioning, and stamina management without being overly punishing.

The game takes place across a procedurally generated open-sea archipelago where players can explore islands, gather resources, build bases, craft hundreds of items, and sail between locations on ships they construct themselves. Windrose supports solo play and co-op multiplayer for up to 10 players, making it ideal for both lone adventurers and organized crews.
